London
And…. We made it. Our flight was shorter than expected due to being in a 747 and having an ample tail wind all the way here, it took a little over 9 hours.
Once we got through immigration, we took the Underground over to Queensway station, which required three train switches, and we made it without a hitch. Our hotel called the Thistle, was just a brief walk down the street, we are on the 8th floor and have a brilliant view of Hyde park and downtown London.
After getting settled we decided we needed to take a walk to stay awake (in order to avoid jetlag) so we took a walk through Hyde park and Kensington gardens. The day was perfect, warm, softly humid, with a gentle breeze fluttering through the leaves of the park.
We stopped to see the swans, took a gander at Prince Albert Hall (As heard in the Beatles’ song “A Day in the Life” and took a brief look into Kensington Palace, which we may do more of tomorrow.
After that, we crashed back at the hotel for a few hours, then went to dinner at a near by Chinese restaurant around 9:30 (Thankfully it stays light until about 10:20 pm this time of year)
Have a great day friends, tomorrow should bring more excitement, since we should be fully rested from the flight.
