\nWell as the title suggests that’s all over know. We left Naas this morning at 10:30 and began our ride toward Kildare. Upon seeing our path once again blocked by expressway and realizing that Kildare was more out of our way than not, on our journey toward Athlone, we\u00ac\u2020decided\u00ac\u2020to throw caution to the wind and take a new route toward the northwest.
\nOn our way we went past the ruins of an old church and a grave yard which actually contained graves within the ruins itself, stopped in the small town of Athenwood to eat the lunch of\u00ac\u2020baguettes, meat and cheese we purchased at the market that morning, then we found the Canal Road.
\nYou see, we had been riding for quite a few miles of highway\u00ac\u2020shoulder\u00ac\u2020and while legal,\u00ac\u2020didn’t\u00ac\u2020instill a sense of safety nor peace. So I began looking for alternate routes, and found it in the Canal road. It is a dirt road that runs along a serene canal with very little traffic(it still has some, but there were only a few cars.
\nWe took many pictures of the calm surroundings, crossed a bridge which was constructed in 1796, and even found and were ranted at by some gypsies.
\nNow about 4 miles from the end of the road we’ve found a secluded bit of grass surrounded by hedges in which to setup camp for the night, not quite sure if we’re suppose to camp here, but it should be interesting to say the least.
\nAttached is a picture of myself as we ate lunch and right before we helped a poor guy get his car off of the road after it stalled.<\/p>\n
